Paul Brach Visiting Artist Lecture Series: Vishal Jugdeo

Vishal Jugdeo is an artist and filmmaker whose work fuses fiction and documentary to approach narrative in experimental ways. His films, video installations, and performances explore how nuances of power and intimacy are expressed between people, often illuminating how images mediate one's perception of oneself. Jugdeo is recipient of a 2015 Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, and has exhibited and screened widely including at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, ICA Philadelphia, CCA Berlin, Kunstinsitut Melly (formerly Witte De With), Rotterdam, Cinema Akil, Dubai, MOCA and the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.  Jugdeo received an MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2007 and a BFA from Simon Fraser University, Vancouver in 2003. He is assistant professor and New Genres area head in the Department of Art at UCLA.
