Study Abroad Programs

The School of Art and CalArts maintain student exchange programs with a number of art schools in Europe. CalArts students interested in going on exchange should visit the Hub to read the requirements and fill out the Exchange Inquiry Form. Students must speak with the Office of International & Community Partnerships and International Student Exchanges during the fall semester to learn about the various programs available the following school year.

Some opportunities may include:

Tropical Lab, Singapore

Every summer one or two students from the School of Art participate in Tropical Lab, an intensive two-week art workshop organized by LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore. Tropical Lab brings together more than 20 art students from around the world to interact and learn from international and Singaporean artists and curators from the Faculty of Fine Arts at LASALLE and LASALLE’s Institute of Contemporary Art Singapore.  Participants work through an annual theme that animates a series of presentations, seminars, dialogues, and trips, culminating in a final project.

Dee Williams Memorial Travel Grant

Each Spring semester the School of Art awards a number of art students the Dee Williams Memorial Travel Grant funded by Michael Asher Foundation. These grants are designed to support summer travel in pursuit of an artistic project. The travel period can range from three weeks up to three months, and can be international or within the United States.
