Michael Asher Memorial

Remembering the artist, teacher, colleague and friend

On Dec. 7, 2012, the CalArts community paid tribute to longtime faculty member and artist Michael Asher who passed away on Oct. 15, after a long illness. Asher's Post Studio class in the School of Art is legendary, running for 12 hours at a session, offering a depth of critique that many alumni have not experienced since.

The School of Art organized the memorial service that was held in CalArts' Main Gallery, where many former students, faculty members and guests talked about Michael and celebrated his life and work.
